This is Lake Michigan, taken from Glen Haven. What you see are the North and South Manitou Islands.
The lake is calm this day but when you read about this part of the lake it is one of the most dangerous sections in winter months. So many ships carrying goods around the lakes were grounded or sunk near here. Read the history of the South Manitou island lighthouse or the Pointe Betsie lighhouse. In some winters, 25% of ships were lost near here.
